Cemetery Trees
One of the Parish Council’s areas of focus this year has been the Parish Cemetery on Castlehill Road. We carried out a comprehensive survey of the Cemetery last year and identified a number of areas of work to bring it up to a standard we could be proud of. These have been prioritised and one of the more urgent areas for attention is the retaining wall alongside the main entrance gate and car parking area on the north side of the cemetery. Unfortunately the (four) conifers alongside this wall have outgrown their location and the roots are pushing against the wall and causing it to fail, roots appearing through the wall in places. We have sought advice from arboreal specialists and concluded that the trees need to be removed which will stop the root growth and resulting damage and allow us to arrange for repair and rebuilding of the wall. The trees have now been removed.
